This festival is celebrated on Chandrodaya kalik Kartik Krishna Chaturthi. Karva Chauth is a festival celebrated annually by married women in which they observe a Nirjala fast from sunrise to moonrise and pray for the well-being and longevity of their husbands and a long and happy married life. The festival is also observed by unmarried women who pray in the hope of securing a desired life partner. The fast is completed after worshiping moon and seeing it through the sieve. Women also see their husband's face through the same sieve. Then men offer water to their wives in order to break the fast.
